This Breast Cancer Awareness Month I’ve recorded a version of The Divinyls global hit “I Touch Myself” to remind women to self-check regularly. _ Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it’s an issue that affects all women of all colors, all around the world. Early detection is key – it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that. _ The music video is part of the I Touch Myself Project which was created in honor of celebrated diva, Chrissy Amphlett, who passed away from breast cancer, and who gave us her hit song to remind women to put their health first. The project is proudly supported by @BerleiAus for Breast Cancer Network Australia. _ Visit the link in my bio to find out more. #ITouchMyselfProject #BerleiAus #BCNA #DoItForYourself

A sports legend and mother Serena Williams introduced the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness month in an unforeseen way: a melody.

Her song, which has been seen almost 2 million times, demonstrates the tennis star belting out the opening verses to the 1990 hit “I Touch Myself,” by the Divinyls while grasping her chest. “I search myself/I need you to discover me,” she sings. “I forget myself/I need you to remind me.” The video look over to uncover Williams topless, at that point closes on a calming verse: “Think I would die/ If you were to ignore me.”

The grave consummation is no mishap. As Williams uncovers in the subtitle, her post is a piece of the I Touch Myself Project, a development respecting the lead artist of the Divinyls, Chrissy Amphlett, who disastrously kicked the bucket of bosom disease at age 53. The venture was begun by Amphlett’s family in the outcome of her passing. “Chrissy was energetic about spreading attention to the significance of early discovery,” the statement of purpose peruses. “[She] needed the worldwide hit tune ‘I Touch Myself’ to be adjusted as a hymn for bosom wellbeing around the globe.”

The reason is one that Williams appears to be similarly enthusiastic about — regardless of not having been determined to have bosom growth herself. “Indeed, this put me out of my usual range of familiarity, however I needed to do it since it’s an issue that influences all ladies all things considered, all around the globe,” Williams composes on Instagram. “Early location is key – it spares such huge numbers of lives. I simply trust this helps ladies to remember that.”

By Monday, Williams’ post appeared to make waves, motivating reviews over the website. Yet, past the brave idea of the video, how critical is the message it sends?
